Class members must be at least 18 years of age and live or own a business within the Humble city limits or have an Humble mailing address.  Persons living in areas in close proximity to the City of Humble will be considered for acceptance.

All applicants will be subject to a criminal history/background check as a precondition to acceptance into the Academy.

The Academy will start on:

                        Tuesday, August 15th, 2017 PROMPTLY AT 6:00PM.

Deadline for application return will be:
                         Friday, August 4th, 2017 at 4:00 P.M

All applicants will be notified of acceptance to the Academy by phone or email, on or before Friday, August  11th, 2017.

Classes will run for ten weeks on Thursdays from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.  Week eleven will consist of three hours of mock scenarios based on normal police functions.  Week twelve will be dedicated for a graduation ceremony.

The Chief of Police has the final approval of all applications and reserves the right to deny entry to any applicant.

The Academy is free to all members but class size is limited.  There is a minimal cost associated with the graduation ceremony, but attendance is not required.

Dress for class is casual.  No shorts, tank tops, etc.

All classes will be held in the Humble Police Department training room unless otherwise indicated.

Some of the classes will have hands-on training and require some physical activity, but participation in these activities will be voluntary as long as you maintain observation of the activities and participate with discussions related to the material being taught.

There will be at least two Saturdays or alternative day (Thursday evening)  classes,  that is not required to graduate from the academy, but will serve as extra training in topics that are of interest, giving you as the student, the opportunity for further knowledge in areas that require in-depth and time-consuming training.  (Mock Crime Scene Investigation and Firearms Exercise)

You must attend a minimum of 8 of the 10 classes in order to graduate from the Academy. Attendance for week eleven is required, and a citizen ride-along with a patrol unit should be completed prior to week eleven.

Those students who have graduated from the Humble Citizens Police Academy will have the opportunity to join the CPA Alumni Association which meets monthly at the Police Department and assists the Police Department with many functions throughout the year.  The purpose of the CPA Alumni Association is to act as a volunteer branch of the department and lend a helping hand with community service projects and tasks that require extra manpower related to day-to-day operations.

By graduating from the Academy and/or joining the CPA Alumni Association, you will not be a licensed Peace Officer in any capacity.  You will not be allowed to perform any law enforcement type actions but will still have the knowledge of being an informed citizen of this great state, county and city.  Additionally, you will become a part of the Police Department family and support staff that is essential to a successful community partnership.

Graduating Alumni are also eligible to apply for and join our newly created Citizens On Patrol Pram. There will be more information available on this program later after you graduate from the Citizens Police Academy.
