Traffic Unit
The Humble Police Department Traffic Enforcement
Unit was formed to respond to an ever increasing number of traffic related problems throughout the city. These problems
consisted of traffic congestion, aggressive and reckless drivers, auto pedestrian accidents, and an increased number of
traffic related fatalities primarily caused by vehicle crashes. The Traffic Enforcement Unit gives the department a
very useful tool to effectively address various traffic safety issues, while saving lives and protecting property.
The Traffic Unit is currently comprised of three officers and one sergeant. Their duty hours vary according to the
traffic enforcement needs throughout the city. All members of the unit are all certified and highly trained in the
areas of traffic enforcement, accident reconstruction and impaired driver recognition. In addition to this, every
officer assigned to this specialty unit are members of TDCAA (Texas District & County Attorneys Association) TAARS
(Texas Association of Accident Reconstruction Specialist) and ARC (Accident Reconstruction Community).
The Traffic Enforcement Unit utilizes the latest in technology to perform their duties such as VERICOM – VC4000
(which measures and computes a vehicle’s velocity, performance, and braking capability), CDRS (Crash Data Retrieval System)
Total Station (crash reconstruction technology) along with VISTA FX Traffic Accident Reconstruction
Animation Simulation.
The Traffic Enforcement Unit is responsible for all investigations related to traffic fatalities. The unit is responsible
for the completion of all crash reports, crash scene diagrams, court proceedings, attendance at all autopsies that are
traffic related deaths, along with the investigations into all unnatural deaths due to motor vehicle crashes.
In addition to this the Traffic Enforcement Unit works closely with the City of Humble Street Department, and the Texas
Department of Transportation in assessing, and assisting in the orderly flow of traffic throughout the City. All traffic
related complaints may be routed to the Humble Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit at (281) 319-3712 and directed
