Sergeant Greg Sammon began his career by attending the University of Houston Police Academy from which he graduated in 1986. Then in March of 1987 he applied for, and was accepted by the Humble Police Department to serve as a reserve police officer. Then in November of 1988 he was offered and accepted a full time position as a patrol officer. After serving ten years in the patrol bureau he was promoted to his current rank of patrol Sergeant in 1998.

During his career in patrol, Sergeant Sammon was one of the founding members of the Police Bike Patrol unit, and a senior member of the Humble Police Department S.W.A.T. team, and currently serves as the Sniper Team Leader. In addition to this he has instructed police S.W.A.T. schools, including Advanced S.W.A.T., and Advanced Sniper training. Sgt. Sammon has also competed in eight (8) Police Olympics, shooting both scoped rifle and iron sight rifle events. During these Olympic events he has received three (3) Bronze medals, two (2) Silver Medals, and nine (9) Gold Medals.

Sergeant Sammon has served as a Field Training Officer, Firearms Instructor, as well as the S.W.A.T. team commander for the Department. Sergeant Sammon currently is the acting physical fitness coordinator and instructor. He is also Chairman of the Department Incident Review Board. Sergeant Sammon currently holds a Master Peace Officer Certification, and is the Senior Patrol Sergeant on first watch / day shift.
