Chris Green is the Crime Victim Liaison for the Humble Police Department. She has worked with people in crisis since 1992. She has worked in law enforcement for 15 years and started the Victim Assistance Program for the Humble Police Department in 1995. Under her leadership, more than 4500 victims of crime have been assisted.

Chris, a certified TCLEOSE instructor (police instruction) and has taught the domestic violence, crime victims’ rights, and crime victim compensation portions of the TCLEOSE mandated training. She has presented presentations on domestic violence, safety, child abuse, elder abuse and other topics to colleges, school districts, hospitals, county agencies, social service agencies, neighborhood groups and senior citizen groups. She has presented workshops at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Crime Victim Clearinghouse Conference and has been a presenter at the Texas Victim Service Association. In addition she has done presentations for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice at the Pam Lynchner State Jail. She also teaches at the Citizens Police Academy for the City of Humble, Texas.

Chris has been instrumental in writing grants for the police department which have totaled in excess of a million dollars. These grants were for the victim assistance program, the hiring of new officers, and acquiring new equipment. In 2000, she wrote and coordinated the first state funded Juvenile Justice grant for an “anti-shoplifting class” for those juveniles charged with “Class C” theft in the City of Humble Municipal Court. Since then, she has pursed and received other law enforcement grants for her department.

In 2000, Chris found the need to help children both crime victims and others in the community, with assistance during the Christmas Holidays. Since the Christmas program began, she along with many donors and volunteers has provided new toys and clothes for 570 children.

Chris has a Master’s Degree in Human Sciences from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University. In addition she has a Victim Service Certificate from California State University – Fresno and holds advanced credentialing from the National Organization for Victim Assistance as a Comprehensive Victim Intervention Specialist. Chris is a certified instructor for the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE). She is also a trained Family Mediator and has mediated cases including those from The Dispute Resolution Center of Harris County Texas. Additionally she is a Guardian Ad Litem for the Family Courts of Harris County Texas, representing children in custody cases.

Chris was a recipient of the FamilyTime Foundation, Woman of Achievement Award for Woman’s Advocacy in 1999. She received the Practitioner in Law Enforcement award from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Crime Victim Clearinghouse Conference in May 2007. In July, 2008 she was awarded the first Civilian of the Year Award from the Humble Police Department Police Association.
