Forensic Lab
The Humble Police Department’s Forensic Lab specializes in the analysis and processing of all crime scenes and handles the examination and treating of a variety of evidence with different techniques including forensic photography and forensic light source examination. Also, individualization through the examination and comparison of prints (to include palms) is accomplished. Search and submission of unknown developed finger/palm impressions into the Harris County’s database Automated Fingerprint Identification System (A.F.I.S.) is completed through the A.F.I.S. station in the lab. Ultimately, a thorough reconstruction of major scenes is completed for representation of the final hypothesis.
The Humble Police Department proudly holds the distinction of having all three crime scene certifications (Certified Crime Scene Investigator, Certified Crime Scene Analyst and the Certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst) of the International Association for Identification (IAI) among the lab and the crime scene personnel. The department’s ultimate goal is for each of its Crime Scene Investigators to obtain a certification in any of the current seven forensic disciplines within the I.A.I.
Once each of these goals and standards has been achieved, the officer is then qualified to wear the department's pin of a CSI.
