I was hired as a Police Officer for the City of Humble in June 1982; this began my law enforcement career.
I have been very fortunate in the various job assignments that I have had in my career. As a detective I was assigned for two years to the Houston Police Department Auto Theft Task Force. I was also assigned to the Harris County Organized Crime / Narcotics Task Force where I spent five and half years working cases involving the smuggling and International Transportation of narcotics, surveillance, and the execution of search and arrest warrants along with many other investigative issues that are involved with this type of criminal activity. I was given different type of cases to investigate over my nineteen-plus years as a detective. I worked burglary and theft, then to juvenile crimes /sexual assault and abuse cases, then to Robberies and Homicide cases. I found these assignments and the responsibility that goes with them to be some of the most personally rewarding work in law enforcement.
I believe that these varied assignments have given me a well rounded and diverse law enforcement background. In May 2003 I was promoted to the rank of Captain. I held that position until April of 2007 when I again was promoted to my current rank as the Assistant Chief of Police for the City of Humble.
Some of the professional organizations to which I am a member include The Texas Police Chief’s Association, The Humble Police Officers Association (Former Director), North Harris County Criminal Justice Association (Former President), Houston Scottish Rite, Arabia Shrine Temple, Homicide Investigators of Texas, Texas Municipal Peace Officers Association, and the International Association of Police Chiefs.
My goals for the department include, obtaining the very best in equipment and the employment of the very latest in advanced technologies in the field of law enforcement. This is to include patrol vehicles, telephone and radio communications, computer assisted dispatch systems (CAD), in car digital video systems, department and in car computer systems, Crime Laboratory, Property & Evidence facility, the best in Officer Training / protective and safety equipment, etc.
It is my belief that the citizens of Humble deserve to have the very best afforded to them in the way of police services. To include the prompt response to calls, police officers who are well trained, highly motivated, well equipped, law enforcement professionals.
I wish to foster community support through the departments training divisions, community services officer, and out-reach programs such as our Citizens Police Academy, Ride-Along Program, D.A.R.E. Programs, and various community meetings arranged by the department throughout each calendar year.
